MANILA, Philippines – Nais ng mga mambabatas na magpalabas ng public apology si Vice President Sara Duterte matapos itanggi na nasa Calaguas Island noong Setyembre 23, ang araw na may budget deliberation ang House of Representatives sa budget ng Office of the Vice President (OVP).
Para kina House Assistant Majority Leaders Paolo Ortega ng La Union at Jay Khonghun ng Zambales, nakadidismaya ang pagsisinungaling ni Duterte.
“The Vice President owes the Filipino people an explanation and an apology. This is not the kind of leadership we deserve – where the truth is hidden and lies are told to cover it up,” pahayag ni Ortega.
Aniya, ang ginawang pagsinungaling ni Duterte ay hindi maliit na bagay bagkus ay malaking isyu ito dahil ang public trust ay kritikal sa government leadership.
Gayundin ang pahayag ni Khonghun, aniya, mahalaga sa mga lider ng bansa ang honesty at transparency.
“This is conduct unbecoming of any public official, especially the Vice President of the Philippines. Honesty should be a non-negotiable trait for anyone who holds office,” ani Khonghun.
“This is about integrity. If she cannot be honest about something as simple as her whereabouts, how can we trust her on more important matters? You’re caught in a lie, the best course of action is to apologize, not to make excuses,” dagdag pa nito.
Ang kontrobersiya na nasa Calaguas si Duterte ay umani ng batikos dahil nakita ang larawan nito na nasa isla sa mismong araw na dapat ay dumadalo ito sa budget hearing ng OVP sa Kamara.
Nang lumabas ang nasabing larawan ay itinanggi ito ni Duterte at sinabing wala ito sa beach subalit taliwas naman ito sa mga lumabas na ebidensta mula sa social media na nagpapakita na naroroon ito.
Giit naman ni Deputy Minority Leader at ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro na mismong police security report ang magpapatunay na nasa Calaguas Island si Duterte.
“The truth has a way of coming to light,” pahayag ni Castro kung saan tinukoy nito ang police spot report na nagdodokumento na si Duterte ay nasa Calaguas Island mula September 21 hanggang 23.
“It is alarming that the Vice President chooses to dismiss verified reports as fake news when there is clear documentation of her whereabouts.” pagtatapos pa ni Castro.
Batay sa lumabas na PNP report, si Duterte ay dumating sa isla kasama ng kanyang entourage, dumating ito sa Vinzons, Camarines Norte noong September 21 at bumiyahe sa Mahabang Buhangin Beach kung saan tumuloy ito sa I Love Calaguas Resort, nakipagpulong ito sa ilamg local officials bago umalis ng isla noong September 23.
