MANILA, Philippines – Binigyan ng Senate Impeachment Court ang kampo ni Vice President Sara Duterte ng 15 araw para tumugon sa kahilingan ng prosekusyon na iadmit bilang ebidensiya ang 104 dokumento kaugnay ng Article II o alegasyon ng unexplained wealth.
Ayon kay public prosecutor Rep. Chel Diokno, nais lamang ng prosekusyon na makumpirma kung tunay ang mga bank record na isinumite ng mga bangko at kung pag-aari ni Duterte, nang mag-isa o kasama ang iba.
“The request from the prosecution side is simple,” ani Diokno.
“We are just asking the respondent to confirm first, if the bank records submitted by the banks in accordance with the subpoena duces tecum issued by the Impeachment Court are genuine,” dagdag niya.
“We are asking them simply to admit records that they can readily and easily verify, either through their own records or through confirmation with the banks and other institutions,” ani Diokno.
Hiniling ng prosekusyon na gawing pitong araw lamang ang panahon ng depensa sa halip na 15 araw, ngunit nagpasya si Presiding Officer Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero na ibigay ang buong 15 araw.
“Chair gives the respondent 15 days from today to file their comment on the 104 Request for Admission under Rule 26, knowing, Atty. Poa, the effect of a general denial, knowing as well that an unreasonable denial will be looked at by the court,” ani Escudero.
Ayon sa prosekusyon, kasama sa mga dokumento ang bank at tax records ni Duterte, ng kanyang asawang si Manases Carpio at kanilang mga business interests.
Sa nakaraang pagdinig, sinabi ni Rep. Terry Ridon na hindi umano tugma sa suweldo ni Duterte ang paglaki ng kanyang net worth, na mula P7.2 milyon ay naging P88.51 milyon. Iniugnay rin niya sa AMLC ang umano’y P6.7 bilyong kabuuang transaksiyon mula sa mga bank account nina Duterte at Carpio. RNT/MDS
