Pansamantalang papalitan ang Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) ng mga bagong tauhan ng militar at pulisya, sinabi ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief General Romeo Brawner Jr.
Sa isang ambush interview, sinabi ni Brawner na papalitan sila pansamantala upang matiyak ang epektibong seguridad para kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
“The reason why we are doing this is because we receive a subpoena from [the] Philippine National Police. Iimbestigahan yung mga members ng VPSPG. Hindi pa namin alam yung specifics ng kaso or yung investigation,” he said.
“But because may subpoena sila, it means to say hindi nila kayang gampanan yung tungkulin nila to protect and secure the Vice President. Iyon ang dahilan kung bakit pansamantala natin silang binubunot, pinapalitan. Papalitan natin sila,” he added.
Kaninang araw, sinabi ng PNP na nagtalaga na sila ng 25 police personnel sa VPSPG bilang pag-asam sa posibleng pag-recall ng mga tauhan ng militar mula sa unit.
Sa isang press briefing, sinabi ni PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo na humiling ang AFP ng mga tauhan ng pulisya para sa seguridad ni Duterte.
Asked about AFP’s reason for the request, Fajardo said, “That was, I think, triggered by the possible recall of some of the AFP personnel under detail po sa VPSPG as a result of what happened po last Saturday.”
