MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ng kampo ni suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo na walang ebidensya na makapagdidiin sa kanya sa human trafficking case laban sa kanya sa Department of Justice (DOJ) na ipinasa para sa resolusyon.
“Malabo naman ‘yung case na ‘yun,” saad sa mensahe ng abogado ni Guo na si Atty. Stephen David.
“Wala naman evidence na involved siya sa human trafficking. Mas maganda sa court na lang mag-prepare ng defense.”
Sinabi ng DOJ na ang kaso ay ipinasa na para sa resolusyon makaraang bigong makapaghain ng counter affidavit si Guo.
Samantala, sinabi ni David na ang hiwalay na election offense complaint na planong ihain ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) laban kay Guo ay “premature.”
“Right now we have not received any correspondence from the court or Comelec. It is hard to comment on a petition which we have not yet evaluated. However, as a lawyer, l have my reservations as to the filing of this petition. It seems this is a premature step considering that the issue on the validity of the Certificate of Birth Registration of Mayor Guo is still pending determination by the court,” ani David.
“So, what could be the basis for the Comelec to allege that Mayor Guo made misrepresentations on her Certificate of Candidacy?” dagdag pa niya.
Nitong Martes, Agosto 6, inaprubahan ng Comelec en banc ang rekomendasyon ng law department na maghain ng reklamo laban kay Guo para sa material misrepresentation. RNT/JGC
