“We did not receive any report of ashfall among the towns surrounding the Taal Volcano. Most likely, the ashes fell on the Taal Volcano Island (TVI),” sinabi ni Phivolcs Director Teresito Bacolcol kasabay ng Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon program.
Ayon sa Phivolcs, ang phreatomagmatic event ay “likely driven by sudden contact of water with a small branch of shallow magma that has been in place beneath the Taal Main Crater and that has been degassing sustained levels of SO2 (sulfur dioxide) for the past three years.”
RNT/JGC
