MANILA, Philippines – Mariing tinutulan ni Rep. Brian Poe ang panukalang 233% taas-singil sa passenger terminal fee sa Batangas Port, na tinawag niyang “direktang dagok” sa bulsa ng mga Pilipino.
Aniya, maaapektuhan nito ang mga manggagawa, estudyante, maliliit na negosyante, at mangingisda na umaasa sa pantalan.
“This is a direct hit on the pockets of our kababayans. Batangas Port is not just another transport facility; it’s a vital lifeline. It’s the commuter, the small trader, and the fisherfolk who absorb the fallout. Transport costs don’t exist in a vacuum—they ripple outward,” giit ni Poe.
Dagdag pa ni Poe, hindi dapat isakripisyo ang katarungan at abot-kayang serbisyo sa ngalan ng modernisasyon.
Suportado niya si Governor Bonz Dolor at mga LGU na tumututol sa taas-singil, at nanawagan sa PPA na tanggihan ang aplikasyon ng Asian Terminals Inc.–Batangas at magpatupad ng makatao at bukas na konsultasyon.
“We strongly urge the PPA to reconsider the application of Asian Terminals Inc.–Batangas (ATIB). There must be a more balanced, transparent, and consultative approach,” ani Poe. RNT
