MANILA, Philippines – Pinauwi na ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) sa kani-kanilang bansa ang 26 dayuhan na nagtatrabaho sa illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).
Sa kalatas nitong Sabado, Pebrero 8, sinabi ng BI na ang mga deportees ay bahagi ng 450 foreign nationals na nahuli noong Enero dahil sa paglabag sa Philippine immigration laws, partikular na ang mga iniuugnay sa illegal POGO-related scams.
Sa 26 deportees, 23 ang Chinese nationals at tatlo ang Malaysians.
“This is just the beginning. We are resolute in enforcing immigration laws and ensuring that those who exploit our country for illicit activities are removed,” pahayag ni BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado.
“Foreign nationals who engage in unauthorized and illegal operations should take this as a warning—we will find you, arrest you, and send you back to your country,” dagdag pa niya.
Matatandaan na noong Nobyembre 2024 ay nag-isyu si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ng Executive Order 74, na nagbabawal sa lahat ng POGO at internet gaming licenses. RNT/JGC
