3 hinihinalang miyembro ng BIFF, Dawlah Islamiyah sumuko

MANILA, Philippines -Inanunsyo ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) nitong Lunes, Marso 16 ang pagsuko ng tatlong umano’y miyembro ng Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) at Dawlah Islamiyah (DI).

Sa pahayag, sinabi ng NBI na ang tatlo ay nakuha sa operasyon noong Marso 14 sa Mamasapano, Maguindanao del Sur.

Kasunod ng kanilang pagsuko, ang mga indibidwal ay ibinyahe sa isang ligtas na pasilidad para sa dokumentasyon, debriefing at security processing.

“This successful surrender demonstrates that even those who have once taken the path of armed extremism can still choose peace,” sinabi ni NBI Director Melvin Matibag.

Itinurn-over din ng tatlo ang mga high-powered firearms at iba pang armas kabilang ang:

1 Barrett rifle
1 M79 grenade launcher
1 M203 grenade launcher tube
1 Mosin rifle with magazine
2 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition

Sinabi ng NBI na ang operasyon ay nag-ugat sa impormasyon na may mga indibidwal na may kaugnayan sa extremist groups ang nais nang sumuko.

“The National Bureau of Investigation remains committed to supporting government efforts that provide safe and lawful avenues for individuals who wish to abandon violence and reintegrate into society,” sinabi ni Matibag.

“Through cooperation with our partner security agencies and the community, we will continue to work toward lasting peace and stability in the Bangsamoro region,” dagdag pa niya. RNT/JGC
