MANILA, Philippines – Halos kalahati ng Filipino adults sa buong bansa ang sumusuporta sa legalisasyon ng divorce para sa ‘irreconcilably separated couples,’ ayon sa Social Weather Survey nitong Sabado, Hunyo 1.
Sa survey, tinanong ang mga respondents kung “married couples who have already separated and cannot reconcile anymore should be allowed to divorce so that they can get legally married again.”
Lumabas sa resulta na 50% ang sang-ayon dito, 31% naman ang tutol habang 17% pa ang undecided sa test statement.
Anang SWS, ito ay 5% na mas mababa mula sa SWS survey noong Hunyo 2023, sa 55% at record-high na 65% noong Marso 2023.
“Net agreement with legalizing divorce was very strong among men and women with live-in partners compared to moderately strong levels among widowed or separated women, men who have never married, women who have never married, widowed/separated men, married women, and married men,” ayon sa SWS.
Tinukoy sa pag-aaral ang suporta para sa legalisasyon ng divorce ay napakataas para sa Metro Manila, at moderately strong levels sa Balance Luzon, at Visayas at Mindanao bilang neutral.
Patuloy na bumaba naman ang Mindanao mula sa record-high very strong agreement noong Marso 2023 patungo sa moderately strong noong Hunyo 2023.
Pagdating sa relihiyon, nasa ‘moderately strong levels’ ang net agreement sa pagsasalegal ng diborsyo sa Christians, Catholics, at Muslims, habang moderately weak naman sa mga miyembro ng Iglesia ni Cristo.
Tinukoy na sa mga Muslim, ang net agreement sa legalisasyon ng diborsyo ay nasa steady decline mula sa extremely strong noong Marso 2023, patungo sa moderately strong noong Hunyo 2023 at moderately strong noong Marso ngayong taon.
Ang survey ay isinagawa na may 13% respondents mula Metro Manila, 45% mula Balance Luzon, 19% mula Visayas at 23% mula Mindanao.
“Fifty-two percent are from urban areas, and 48% are from rural areas. Male and female respondents have a 1-to-1 ratio and, thus, are alternately sampled,” sinabi ng SWS.
“By age group, 12% are youth (18-24), 16% are intermediate youth (25-34), 22% are middle-aged (35-44), 17% are 45 to 54 years old, and 33% are 55 years old and above,” dagdag pa.
