THE relentless pursuit of justice has brought down the infamous ‘Alcantara’ criminal group, as police authorities successfully arrested its leader and five members.
The group’s leader, known only as “Tomboy,” alongside members identified by their aliases—Jharvis, Ranie, and Renzo from Tondo, Manila and Roel and Jerry from Binangonan, Rizal—offered no resistance during the arrest.
On December 21, operatives from the Northern Police District, under the helm of director PCol Josefino Ligan, raided the gang’s hideout in Marulas B, Barangay 36, Caloocan City.
The gang, notorious for its involvement in illegal drug trade and gun-for-hire operations, posed a significant threat to public safety. The successful operation marks a critical step toward restoring peace and order in Metro Manila.
According to NCRPO Director P/BGen. Anthony Aberin, the raiding team from the NPD’s District Special Operations Unit seized several high-powered firearms like a Bushmaster rifle, two Glock automatic pistols, a .45 Taurus caliber pistol, and assorted ammunition from the suspects.
Aberin highlighted that this operation exemplifies the effectiveness of the AAA Polishing Framework, a proactive approach that prioritizes officers being Able, Active and Allied in their duties.
The AAA framework, adopted as the NCRPO flagship anti-criminality strategy, aims to enhance peace and security across Metro Manila.
– Able: Equipping police officers with the training, tools, and skills necessary for effective law enforcement operations.
-Active: Encouraging proactive measures, such as regular operations, surveillance, and rapid incident resolution.
– Allied: Strengthening collaboration between the police force and the community to foster shared responsibility for public safety.
This framework seeks to not only combat crime but also reshape the relationship between law enforcement and the public, encouraging collective efforts to address the root causes of societal disorder.
Aberin also underscored the importance of fundamental crime prevention measures, such as adherence to protocols, avoidance of unlawful activities, and fostering moral integrity through faith.
He reminded the public to remain vigilant to ensure community safety.
