MANILA, Philippines – Nakauwi na ng Pilipinas ang nasa 290 Filipino mula sa Lebanon sakay ng isang chartered flight nitong Biyernes, Oktubre 25.
Sa anunsyo ng Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), lumipad mula sa Beirut, Lebanon bandang alas-2 ng hapon ang eroplano sakay ang 233 OFWs, 13 dependents, 21 overseas Filipinos, at kanilang 23 dependents.
Lumapag ito sa NAIA Terminal 1 sa Pasay City bandang 3:03 ng hapon kasama si MWO Attaché to Alkhobar, Hector B. Cruz, Jr. mula Beirut patungong Manila.
Upang masiguro ang kaligtasan ng mga repatriates, ang chartered flight ay inorganisa ng DMW, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), at Philippine Embassy sa Ankara, Turkiye.
“The Philippine Embassy and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Lebanon work hand-in-hand with the host government to facilitate travel documents for Filipinos to join this flight,” sinabi ni Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac.
Nagdala ang batch na ito ng repatriates sa kabuuang 903 OFW at 47 dependents nito mula Lebanon na sumali sa voluntary repatriation program ng pamahalaan.
Sa kabila ng tumataas na tension sa Middle East, kamakailan ay ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang paglilikas sa mga Pinoy sa Lebanon “by whatever means.
Samantala, ang 69 Filipino na tumutuloy pa rin sa mga shelter sa Beirut ay nakatatanggap ng pagkain at suporta mula sa MWO.
“We stand ready to assist those who are willing to be repatriated. We are encouraging OFWs to avail of the voluntary repatriation program. And sa pag-uwi nila, a whole-of-government approach ang nakahanda, as directed by the President, with unprecedented financial assistance and other forms of support,” dagdag ni Cacdac.
Sa pamamagitan ng AKSYON Fund ng DMW, magbibigay ng financial aid na P75,000 ang ahensya sa lahat ng repatriates, bukod sa karagdagang P75,000 mula sa
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) at P20,000 mula sa Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Magbibigay naman ang DOH ng libreng medical consultation at psychological first aid sa mga repatriate.
Tutulong ang DMW sa pagsisimula ng negosyo at paghahanap ng oportunidad ng mga repatriates sa pamamagitan ng National Reintegration Center para sa mga OFW.
Sa ilalim ng Alert Level 3, ang repatriation ay isang voluntary choice para sa mga Filipino. RNT/JGC
