TIME IS LIFE: LGUs MUST SUPPORT TORRE RESPONSE PROGRAM

PHILIPPINE National Police chief PGen. Nicolas Torre III has set a bold and ambitious goal — to ensure that police officers respond to crimes within five minutes.

It’s a vision built on urgency, recognizing that time can mean the difference between life and death, harm and safety, justice and injustice.

But the success of this program will depend not only on the determination of the police force but also on the support of the entire nation.

Let’s be clear: achieving a five-minute response time is no small feat. Heavy traffic, limited equipment, and manpower challenges persist in many parts of the country.

That’s why it’s only right to recognize that local government units — with their resources, authority and mandate — have every reason to support this program. After all, this initiative is for the benefit of the people they serve.

Helping the PNP respond faster to crimes isn’t just a matter of operational efficiency — it’s a matter of public welfare.

When LGUs invest in patrol vehicles, communication tools, and modern emergency response technology, they are not doing Gen. Torre a favor.

They are fulfilling their responsibility to protect their constituents and uphold peace and order in their communities.

Public safety is a shared mission. The five-minute response program is not just a police undertaking; it is a national imperative.

When LGUs stand behind this initiative, they demonstrate true leadership — one that puts the safety and well-being of the Filipino people first.

In the end, the success of this bold vision will not only reflect Gen. Torre’s leadership, but also our collective resolve to build a safer, more responsive nation.

This is about all of us — and time is something we cannot afford to waste.
