MANILA, Philippines – Inaprubahan ng Department of Agriculture (DA) ang 13 kompanya mula sa Chile na mag-export ng karne sa Pilipinas.
Ayon sa DA, ginawaran ang mga Chilean company ng tatlong taong akreditasyon para mag-export ng karne, offal, animal fats, at iba pang by-products “to further diversify the country’s food sources amid persistent supply bottlenecks and livestock diseases.”
“As much as we strive to produce more food locally, we also need to ensure steady and reliable sources overseas. Recent natural calamities and recurring animal diseases remind us of the importance of securing alternative food supply channels to protect consumers and stabilize prices,” sinabi ni DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel.
Aniya, ang Chile ay tumugon sa standards ng World Organization for Animal Health, at nakapasa ang mga kompanya sa Philippine quarantine and meat inspection requirements.
Dahil dito ay nakasali na ang Chile sa global meat suppliers ng Pilipinas kabilang ang United States, Canada, Brazil, at Spain. RNT/JGC
