Ito’y matapos na kilalanin at tanggapin ng ilang quarters ang controversial contractor couple na sina Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya at Cezarah Rowena “Sarah” Discaya, bilang mga “bagong Napoles.”
Sa isang kalatas, sinabi ni Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Acting Secretary Dave Gomez na ang ‘unexplained wealth’ ng Discaya couple ay “ten times” na mas malaki kaysa sa ill-gotten wealth ng mga Napoles.
Sinabi ni Gomez na ang mga sangkot sa flood control mess ay mabilis na napanagot, idagdag pa na ang mga Discaya ay nag-Pasko sa kulungan.
“The flood control investigation does not end on Dec. 25. It’s only been a little over four months,” ayon kay Gomez.
“The Napoles probe took almost a year before people were sent to jail. There will surely be more thrown behind bars in the New Year,”aniya pa rin.
Sa kabilang dako, sinabi naman ni Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary at Palace Press Officer Claire Castro na ang laban ng administrasyong Marcos kontra korapsyon ay “far from over.”
Ang lahat aniya ng kaugnay at makabuluhan na investigative bodies, kabilang na ang Independent Commission for Infrastructure, ay nagtatrabaho para makapangalap ng ebidensiya upang ang mga culprits o salarin ay mapanagot para sa kanilang ilegal na gawain.
“Rule of law should always be observed, and mere hearsay evidence is generally inadmissible and has no room to be entertained,” ang winika ni Castro.
