MANILA, Philippines – Hinimok ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang mga barangay officials na tumulong sa pagpigil ng mga pinsala dulot ng paputok bago ang New Year’s Eve.
“Barangay leaders are at the forefront of ensuring that local festivities remain incident-free. We urge them to be proactive in safeguarding their constituents, especially against the use of illegal firecrackers and firearms during New Year celebrations,” ayon kay Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
Dagdag pa niya, “The police will strictly enforce regulations against illegal or unsafe firecrackers.”
Ang panawagan ng PNP ay kasunod ng ulat ng Department of Health na 91 ang nasugatan dahil sa paputok mula Disyembre 21 hanggang 27.
Nauna nang ipinaalala ng PNP na bawal ang overweight at oversized firecrackers, kabilang ang 31 uri ng paputok at pyrotechnic devices ngayong holiday season.
Samantala, ang Bureau of Fire Protection ay nag-deploy ng 32,000 personnel sa buong bansa at nasa “code red” alert mula Disyembre 23 hanggang Enero 2. RNT/MND
