MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ni Vice President Sara Duterte na ang inaasahang impeachment complaint laban sa kanya sa Pebrero ay isa lamang umanong “fundraising” ng mga mambabatas, tulad ng mga naunang reklamo.
Sa isang media interview sa The Hague, Netherlands noong Lunes, tinanong si Duterte tungkol sa pag-expire ng isang taong ban ng Korte Suprema (SC) sa paghahain ng impeachment complaint laban sa kanya sa susunod na buwan.
“As expected, because they are the ones who always say they will file an impeachment complaint. So, we already know that that will happen,” ani Duterte.
“As expected as well, it will be just like in the past when members of the House of Representatives were fundraising to sign the impeachment. It’s all about the money there,” dagdag niya.
Noong Disyembre 2024, apat na impeachment complaint ang inihain laban sa Bise Presidente.
Ang ikaapat na reklamo ay nagmula sa imbestigasyon ng House good government and public accountability panel tungkol sa paggamit ng confidential funds ng Office of the Vice President at Department of Education, at sinuportahan ng mahigit 200 miyembro ng Kamara noong Pebrero 2025.
Ang naturang dokumento ang naging batayan ng impeachment ni Duterte sa House of Representatives.
Noong Agosto 2025, bumoto ang Senado ng 19-4, may isang abstention, upang i-archive ang impeachment articles matapos ideklara ng Korte Suprema na labag sa Konstitusyon ang reklamo. RNT/MND
