VETERAN Rep. Oscar Malapitan and District 3 Rep. Dean Asistio have filed Resolution 209 at the lower chamber in their bid to convert the city police into a separate command called the Caloocan City Police District which already got approval from the committee level.

Malapitan believed that it’s high time to transform the local police into district command like the Quezon City Police District and Manila Police District, citing its population of 1, 666, 584, a land area of 53.20 square kilometers and 193 villages which make it the third most populous locality in Metro Manila, next to Quezon City and Manila.

Despite its large population and extensive jurisdiction, the maintenance of peace and order in the city is presently handled only by a police station which is structurally and operationally inadequate to address the increasing demands of public safety, crime prevention and effective law enforcement.

“Converting and reorganizing the city police into a full-fledged police district under the direct command and control of the National Capital Region Police Office will enhance the delivery of police services, ensure more efficient coordination and resource management and strengthen crime prevention and patrol operations and other police functions,” said Malapitan.

In the present set up, Caloocan police force is under the jurisdiction of the Northern Police District which has also the direct supervision of the police stations in the neighboring cities of Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela.

Incentives for UCC Passers

Caloocan Mayor Along Malapitan has given out cash incentives on 159 University of Caloocan City board passers in 2025 led by Xian Arnel Pineda, the Top 4 passer of the licensure exams for Psychometricians.

The son of the Caloocan lawmaker also congratulated all the passers as he encouraged them to inspire and help other city youth to value education and build a better future for their families.

At the same time, the city chief executive hailed the UCC officers and staff particularly its faculty members from different departments for their dedication and competence which transforms the university into a more competitive educational institution in the country and also maintains its excellent academic performance.

The board passers also include 15 Certified Public Accountants, 65 Professional Teachers, and 79 Registered Psychometricians

He vowed to continue programs that work to improve the city’s education system, from elementary to even graduate school programs.
