MANILA, Philippines – Inanunsyo ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang pansamantalang suspensyon ng overseas voter registration sa Israel at Iran dahil sa tumitinding tensyon sa Middle East.
Ayon sa advisory, suspendido ang consular services at overseas registration activities sa Israel mula Marso 4 hanggang Marso 7, 2026, habang sa Iran ay suspendido ito hanggang sa susunod na abiso. Magpapatuloy naman ang voter registration sa iba pang bansa sa Middle East.
“The Comelec once again strongly advises our fellow Filipinos in the Middle East to remain vigilant and stay informed about the situation in their respective regions,” ayon sa poll body.
“Be cautious of false or misleading information and rely only on credible sources. Pay close attention to the notices and advisories issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), as well as the Philippine Embassy or Consulate, and do not hesitate to contact helplines when in distressed,” dagdag nito.
Nagsimula muli ang overseas voter registration para sa 2028 national elections noong Disyembre 1, 2025 at tatakbo hanggang Setyembre 30, 2027.
