MANILA, Philippines – Oobligahin na ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) ang Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) sa pag-livestream ng bidding procedures ng ahensya.
Ito ay kasunod ng anunsyo ni DILG Secretary Remulla ang paghahain ng reklamong graft and corruption laban kay BFP Chief Fire Director Jesus Fernandez sa umano’y pagtanggap ng kickback na aabot sa P14.752 milyon sa pagbili ng 132 ambulansya noong 2024.
Nang tanungin si Remulla kung may babaguhin sa procurement process ng BFP, sinabi nito na “I believe in open bidding. When I was governor of Cavite, we only did open bidding.”
“So now, I’m requiring the BFP to livestream their biddings so that the people can really see there is transparency inside the BFP,” dagdag pa.
Samantala, sinabi pa ni Remulla na inihahanda na ang mas marami pang kaso laban sa mga opisyal ng BFP sa pagmamanipula sa mga bid para sa fire safety equipment mula pa noong 2021. RNT/JGC
