MANILA, Philippines – Magbibigay ng libreng sakay ang Philippine National Police (PNP) para sa mga commuter na maaapektuhan ng tatlong araw na nationwide transport strike ng grupong Manibela mula Abril 15 hanggang 17.
Ayon kay PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., “While we respect the right of transport groups to air their grievances through peaceful assembly, we are equally committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of the commuting public.”
Dagdag pa niya, “Our personnel will be deployed not only to maintain peace and order but also to provide immediate assistance, including ‘Libreng Sakay,’ to those who will be affected by the transport strike.”
Hindi pa tinukoy ng PNP kung aling mga ruta ang saklaw ng libreng sakay.
Isinasagawa ng Manibela ang strike upang hikayatin ang gobyerno na tugunan ang pagtaas ng presyo ng langis sa bansa dulot ng patuloy na sigalot sa Middle East.
Sinabi rin ni Nartatez na makikipag-ugnayan ang PNP sa Manibela para sa seguridad ng protesta at tiniyak na paiiralin ang maximum tolerance ng mga pulis.
“The PNP will continue its coordination with transport groups to prevent disruptions,” aniya.
“While we respect the groups’ right to assembly, we remind them that these protest actions come with a responsibility,” dagdag niya.
Samantala, ayon kay Highway Patrol Group spokesperson Lt. Nadame Malang, magde-deploy sila ng 501 personnel para sa traffic assistance, checkpoints, at patrol operations sa buong bansa.
Maglalagay rin ang HPG ng 97 sasakyan para sa seguridad at 15 tow trucks habang isinasagawa ang transport strike. RNT/MND
