MANILA, Philippines – Inalerto ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang mga airport at maritime units nito para bantayan ang posibleng pag-alis ng bansa ni Senador Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa dahil sa umiiral na arrest warrant mula sa International Criminal Court (ICC).
Ayon kay PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., pinaigting ang intelligence monitoring sa lahat ng exit points, kabilang ang mga tinatawag na “southern backdoor.”
“Police forces… were alerted to be on the lookout and to intensify intelligence monitoring on all exit points, including the southern backdoor,” ani Nartatez.
Dagdag pa niya: “The Philippine National Police… has alerted the personnel of the Maritime Group and the Aviation Security Group against any attempt of Sen. Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa to leave the country.”
Si dela Rosa ay wanted ng ICC kaugnay ng kasong crimes against humanity na may kaugnayan sa war on drugs ng administrasyong Duterte, na tinatayang umabot sa 30,000 ang nasawi ayon sa human rights groups.
Una nang kinumpirma ng ICC ang arrest warrant laban sa kanya noong Mayo 11.
Ayon sa ulat, sinubukan ng National Bureau of Investigation na ipatupad ang warrant ngunit umatras matapos ilagay ng Senado si dela Rosa sa protective custody.
Sinabi rin ng PNP na hinihintay nila ang final guidance ng Department of Justice (DOJ) matapos ibasura ng Korte Suprema ang hiling ng senador na harangin ang warrant.
“We are waiting for the final guidance of the DOJ…,” ani Nartatez, at idinagdag na hindi pa pinal ang lahat dahil may mga legal na usapin pang dapat resolbahin. RNT/MND
