MANILA, Philippines — Walang nakuhang validated information ang National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) upang matukoy ang pagkakakilanlan ng umano’y hitman na kinontrata ni Vice President Sara Duterte para patayin sina President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, at former Speaker Martin Romualdez sakaling may mangyari sa kanya.
Ito ang inihayag ni NBI Regional Director Atty. Jeremy Lotoc sa ikaapat na araw ng impeachment trial ni Duterte matapos siyang tanungin ni Senator-Judge Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV kung sinikap ng ahensya na tukuyin ang umano’y contract killer.
“We tried to elicit information both from those people who have personal knowledge during the online press conference,” sinabi ni Lotoc.
“Unfortunately, wala hong kaming ma-establish na validated information, na confirmed. So, in fact, hanggang ngayon nag-aantay po kami. Hindi ho katulad dito sa nangyari, may apparent commission of the crime dahil nandyan ‘yung video eh,” dagdag niya.
Sinabi ni Lotoc, na iniharap bilang testigo ng House prosecution panel, na ipinagpatuloy ng NBI ang pag-iimbestiga kahit hindi humarap si Duterte sa imbestigasyon.
Tinanong din ni Aquino kung literal na sinuri ng NBI ang “kill” remarks ng Bise Presidente sa kanyang virtual press conference noong Nobyembre 23, 2024.
Ayon kay Lotoc, “very seriously” na itinuring ng NBI ang mga pahayag.
“Well, Your Honor, if the second highest official of the land sinabi ‘yan, hindi ho biro ‘yan. Medyo mabigat ho ‘yan at ‘yung pagkasabi pa niya na may kasamang galit at mga pagmumura. So we took it very seriously,” sinabi ni Lotoc.
Naniniwala rin ang NBI na maaaring nakausap na ni Duterte ang umano’y hitman bago pa ang press conference.
“Yes, Your Honor, we believe na hindi naman magsisinungaling ang Bise Presidente no’n kasi galit na galit nga po siya,” sinabi ni Lotoc.
“Nakita namin may kinausap na siya even before the press conference was held on November 23, 2024,” dagdag niya.
Tinanong din ni Aquino si defense counsel Atty. Mark Vinluan kung itinanggi ba ni Duterte o ng kanyang defense team ang alegasyong kumuha siya ng hitman para patayin sina Marcos, Araneta-Marcos, at Romualdez.
“We deny that, Your Honor… That is not accurate, Your Honor, and we will present evidence or counter-evidence to prove that,” sagot ni Vinluan.
Hiningi rin ni Senator-Judge Juan Miguel Zubiri ang paglilinaw kung partikular na itinanggi ni Duterte na sinabi niya ang mga kontrobersyal na pahayag, bukod sa blanket denial na isinumite ng depensa sa impeachment court.
“There is, Your Honor, and we just reserve our right to present that evidence at the proper time as well,” dagdag ni Vinluan.
Nauna nang sinabi ng defense team na maghaharap ito ng testigong magsasalaysay tungkol sa umano’y “Operation Romanov” assassination plot laban kay Duterte at sa kanyang pamilya. RNT
