MANILA, Philippines — Inatasan ni Transportation Secretary Giovanni “Banoy” Lopez ang Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na simulan ang pampublikong konsultasyon sa mga nakabinbing petisyon para sa dagdag-pasahe sa mga public utility vehicle sa gitna ng patuloy na mataas na presyo ng langis.
Sinabi ni Lopez nitong Miyerkules na kailangang isaalang-alang ang posibleng epekto ng anumang fare adjustment sa inflation, na kabilang sa pangunahing alalahanin ng mga Pilipino batay sa isang kamakailang Pulse Asia survey.
“The complication right now is that we have to also address inflation. In a recent survey, one of the top concerns of our fellow Filipinos is how to manage inflation. I understand that there are several petitions filed before the LTFRB for this fare hike. I instructed LTFRB na rin po (also) to start the process like public consultation and consultations with the regional directors nationwide,” ani Lopez.
Inatasan din niya ang LTFRB na pag-aralan ang pagpapalawak sa fuel subsidy o fuel discount program ng pamahalaan upang matulungan ang mas maraming tsuper na makayanan ang tumataas na gastos sa operasyon.
“(LTFRB should) start the process pero tingnan niyo rin if we can, might as well, expand itong (but they should check if we might as well expand) government interventions like the fuel subsidy or fuel discount. In that way, we can manage the inflation. I think the President will also discuss and address that issue, kasi ito po ay importante sa ating Pangulo (because this is important to the President),” sinabi niya.
Kasunod ang direktiba sa utos ni President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na pag-aralan kung paano mababalanse ang interes ng mga tsuper at commuter sa harap ng mataas na presyo ng langis.
Sa hiwalay na pahayag, sinabi ng LTFRB na muli nitong kukuwentahin ang angkop na dagdag-pasahe batay sa mga petisyon ng transport groups na Manibela at PISTON. Humihiling ang PISTON ng PHP10 dagdag-pasahe.
Isasaalang-alang umano ng ahensiya ang kakayahan ng mga pasahero na pasanin ang karagdagang pamasahe at ang posibleng epekto nito sa inflation at presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin at serbisyo.
“The LTFRB assures that instead of an interim adjustment, it will come out with a final resolution in the soonest possible time,” pahayag ng ahensiya.
Samantala, magpapatuloy ang fuel discount program habang pinag-aaralan ng LTFRB ang pagpapalawak ng saklaw nito at pagtaas ng tulong para sa mga PUV driver. Santi Celario
