MANILA, Philippines- Hindi kinalimutan ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na magbigay-pugay sa mga tropa na nagsisilbi sa mga remote outpost sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Sa katunayan, kinumpleto ng AFP ang routine rotation and resupply (RORE) mission nito sa BRP Sierra Madre sa Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal, nagdala ng pagkain, tubig at iba pang grocery para sa marines at mga mandaragat na sakay ng World War II-era vessel.
“As the nation marks the 83rd Anniversary of the Day of Valor, the AFP honors the courage and dedication of our soldiers aboard BRP Sierra Madre who continue to stand guard in the West Philippine Sea to uphold our sovereignty, sovereign rights and national interest,” ang sinabi ni Col. Xerxes Trinidad, pinuno ng AFP public affairs office.
Ani Trinidad, naisagawa ang RORE sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
Gaya ng resupply mission noong March 4, sinabi ng AFP na ang pinakabagong RORE “concluded without any untoward incident.”
Ito’y tanda ng pagbuti mula sa pag-ulit ng misyon kung saan pinigilan ng Chinese vessels ang Philippine vessels na makapaghatid ng probisyon sa mga tropa na nananatili sa outpost ng Ayungin Shoal.
Samantala, nakiisa naman si AFP chief, General Romeo Brawner Jr. kina Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., at ilang national at local dignitaries sa paggunita sa Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) sa makasaysayang Mt. Samat National Shrine sa Pilar, Bataan.
Hinikayat ni Brawner ang bansa na gamitin ang diwa ng kagitingan sa kolektibong aksyon para sa nation-building.
“We remain resolute in defending our nation, drawing strength from the courage and determination of those who came before us,” ang sinabi ni Brawner.
“As we honor the sacrifices of our heroes, let us also commit ourselves to building a stronger, more unified Philippines for future generations,” dagdag niya. Kris Jose
