MANILA, Philippines- Nangako ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na may mananagot sa gitna ng report na may ilang dating opisyal na nakatalaga sa vice presidential security ang maaaring maharap sa court martial dahil sa usapin ng confidential funds.
“Here’s one thing that the Armed Forces is very sure about: No one is above the law. We commit ourselves to transparency and accountability to our personnel in terms of the rule of law,” ang sinabi ni AFP public affairs office chief Colonel Xerxes Trinidad.
Tinanong kasi si Trinidad hinggil sa ulat na maaaring maharap sa court martial sina dating commander Colonel Raymund Dante Lachica at dating deputy commander Colonel Dennis Nolasco ng Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) dahil sa umano’y pagkakasangkot sa confidential funds issue ni Vice President Sarah Duterte.
Sa House hearing noong November 2024, nagpahayag ang mga opisyal mula sa Office of the Vice President (OVP) at Department of Education (DepEd)—sa ilalim ni Duterte—na milyong confidential funds umano ang inilipat kina Nolasco and Lachica.
Ayon naman kay OVP special disbursing officer Gina Acosta, nagbigay ng go-signal si Duterte para i-turn over ang P125 million na confidential funds kay Lachica noong 2022.
Samantala, sinabi naman ni special disbursement officer ng DepEd na si Edward Fajarda na ang departamento noong 2023 ay gumamit ng P112.5 milyong halaga ng confidential funds at nag-withdraw ng P37.5 milyon mula sa bangko at ipinalabas ito ng ‘lingguhang tranches’ kay Nolasco.
Samantala, pinanindigan ni Duterte na hindi niya ginamit sa maling paraan ang OVP funds at ang congressional inquiry ay isa lamang test case para sa kanyang impeachment.
Inakusahan ni VP Sara ang administrasyong Marcos ng paggamit sa kanya bilang “punching bag” para pagtakpan ang korapsyon sa gobyerno. Kris Jose
