Manila, Philippines- Lagpas tatlong dekada na ang action star na si Jeric Raval sa showbiz, 35 years to be exact, ngunit ngayon lang siya nakaranas tumanggap ng acting award, sa 73rd FAMAS Award.
“Ngayon ko lang na-experience na makatamggap ng award.
“First time ko.
“Hindi na nga ako unaasa nu’ng gabi ng awards night kaya nagulat ako nang tinawag ang pangalan ko,” kuwento ni Jeric na nagwaging Best Supporting Actor para sa pelikulang Mamay: A Journey to Greatness.
Nagpaliwanag din si Jeric kung bakit sa Best Supporting Actor category siya nagwagi at hindi sa Best Actor lalo’t siya naman ang bida sa biopic ng Nunungan Mayor Marcos Mamay.
“Tinanong ko kay direk kung bakit hindi ako best actor. Ang sabi kasi, sa movie, mas mahaba ang exposure ng younger Mamay.
“After ng kalagitnaan, dun lang lumitaw si Jeric,” paliwanag niya.
“Hindi naman ako malungkot kasi kung papanoorin mo yung pelikula ako naman ang bida,” dagdag pa niya.
Sa totoo lang, for 35 years ay hindi pa pala siya na-notice ng mga award giving bodies sa industriya.
Hindi ba siya nagtampo?
“Wala akong hinanakit sa showbiz kahit na wala akong natanggap na award and nomination for 35 years. Ayos lang. Action star naman kasi ako and hindi naman drama actor talaga,” sabi niya.
Binanggit din ni Jeric na hindi siya magtataas ng talent fee kahit na isa na siyang award winning actor.
“Sa Viva lang ako nagtaas ng TF,” pahabol ni Jeric.
Na-inspire naman si Mayor Marcos sa 5 major awards at 2 special awards na nakuha ng pelikula sa FAMAS.
“This award is not just for me but for the people who believed in my story and in the power of second chances. My journey was never easy—from humble beginnings, hardships, and struggles—but I embraced every challenge with faith and determination,” sabi pa ni Mayor Mamay.
“This victory is not just for me—it’s for the people of Lanao del Norte and for regional cinema as a whole. Our stories matter, and tonight proves they deserve to be seen and celebrated,” dagdag pa ni Mayor.
May pahayag naman si direk Neal “Buboy” Tan on the collaborative success of the film.
“We poured our hearts into this project, and every award is a reminder that Filipino talent—whether in Manila or the regions—can achieve greatness. I’m grateful to the cast, crew, and especially Mayor Mamay, who is the inspiration behind this story,” sabi pa ni Direk.
