MANILA, Philippines- Pinalagan ni Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson J. Prospero de Vera III ang mga alegasyon sa “non-payment” ng grants para sa Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES).
“Charges laid against me lack merit and are purely unsubstantiated allegations,” giit ni de Vera nitong Miyerkules.
Kasunod ang pahayag ng CHED chief ng paghahain ng reklamo laban sa kanya sa Ombudsman para sa neglect of duties and responsibilities as a public official kaugnay ng umano’y hindi pagpapalabas ng TES tranches para sa academic years 2021-2022 ay 2022-2023.
Nagmula ang mga akusasyon sa ilang reklamo sa Marvelous College of Technology at sa Marvelous College at Goldenstate College of Koronadal City, kasunod ng “two-year delay” sa TES grant release.
Subalit, sinabi ni De Vera na nakatanggap ang Marvelous College ng P157,653,600 para sa AYs 2021-2022 at 2022-2023.
“CHED Region 12 has released the funds for them. It is therefore not true that the students have not received money from CHED-Unified Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST),” wika niya.
Aniya, nakinabang dito ang halos 1,275 continuing qualified TES student-grantees na naka-enroll sa Marvelous College.
“Why am I being singled out for a policy decision that I cannot make individually but is collegially made by the UniFAST Board?” giit ng opisyal.
Kabilang sa UniFAST Board ang mga opisyal mula sa Department of Education (DepEd), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), National Youth Commission (NYC), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU), Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC), Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), at Social Security System (SSS).
Sinabi ni De Vera na base ang subsidy amount sa alituntunin ng UniFAST Board, na depende pa rin sa pondo.
“Delays in disbursement were due to lack of funds allocated by DBM (Department of Budget Management) to CHED, as confirmed by regional offices,” dagdag niya. RNT/SA
