MANILA, Philippines – Inaprubahan ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ang aplikasyon ng 25 transport cooperatives mula sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa para sa subsidiya sa pagbili ng modern jeepneys sa ilalim ng Public Transportation Modernization Program (PTMP).
Sa pahayag nitong Sabado, Nobyembre 22, sinabi ni LTFRB chair Vigor Mendoza II na ang approval ng aplikasyon ng 25 kooperatiba “will pave the way for the acquisition of 162 more modern jeepneys, which translates to more public utility vehicles on the road to cater to the growing number of Filipino commuters.”
“Our commitment to fast-tracking all pending petitions is aimed at improving the quality of service in public transportation across the country. The Filipino people deserve better services and a fast government response to ensure their welfare and comfort,” ani Mendoza.
“We are working double to resolve all pending petitions, applications, and motions without compromising new ones. Malaki na ang pagbabago sa LTFRB,” dagdag pa.
Ayon sa LTFRB, ang approval ay pasok sa ilalim ng Expanded Equity Subsidy (EES), na nagbibigay-daan sa LTFRB, sa pamamagitan ng Department of Transportation, na makipag-ugnayan sa pribado at government financial institutions para tulungan ang transport operators na makapag-avail ng loan packages para sa modern jeepneys.
Sinabi rin ng LTFRB na ang EES “provides a significant amount as government subsidy for every unit that transport cooperatives acquire.”
