MANILA, Philippines – Isang Improvised Explosive Device (EID) ang nakita ilang metro sa Senado sa harap ng Six J Double BB Eatery na nasa center island sa W. Diokno Blvd., Barangay 76, Pasay City dakong alas otso ng umaga, ayon sa Office of the Sergeant-At-Arms (OSAA).
Kasabay nito, matinding kinondena ni Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian ang naglagay ng bomba sa paligid ng Senado sa panahon na nagtitipon ang lahat ng institusiyn upang pakinggan ang State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Sa kanyang report kay Gatchalian, sinabi ni retired PMajor Alfred S. Corpuz, sergeant -At-Arms ng Senado na naglalaman ang kahon ng pinaghihinalaang bomba ng 9V battery, blasting cap, maliit na green analog toy clock, electrical wires at plastic jar na naglalaman ng kulay brown na powdered substance.
“Investigation disclosed that, according to the interviewed person, Ariel Tabacong, male, 32 years old, a towing service personnel, and temporarily billeted at Gringgo Towing Service, located beside the eatery, they were instructed to remove their tow truck, which was parked in front of Six J Double BB Eatery,” ayon kay Corpuz.
Ayon pa kay Corpuz “Prior to moving their tow truck, one of Mr. Tabacong’s colleagues notice a white Sklyflakes box placed at the rear-left tire of their tow truck bearing body number MAN 9184. Upon opening of the box, they discovered an object, which contain a small green analog toy6 clock and several wires, and was wrapped with yellow packaging tape.”
“The PNP ROD K9 Unit, led by PCapt. Daniel SJ Cruz, arrived at the scene and safely recovered the suspected IED. Based on their initial assessment, the suspected IED was determined ti be capable of detonation,” ayon kay Corpuz.
Kasabay nito, matinding kinondena ni Gatchalian ang Insidente sa pagsasabing :” NO such act of intimidation will distract the Senate from its work for the Filipino people.”
“We condemn in the strongest terms this apparent attempt to sow fear near the Senate on the very day our institutions gather for the State of the Nation Address.” Ayon kay Gatchalian.
Nakatakdang simulan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., dakong alas tres ng hapon ang kanyang ika-limang SONA sa Batasang Pambansa, Quezon City.
“I have directed the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms to coordinate fully with the Philippine National Police and its Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit, which has already responded to the area. I thank them for their swift action, and I am relieved that no one was hurt,” ayon kay Gatchalian.
Kasunod nito, sinabi ni Gatchalian na “I am calling on the PNP and all concerned authorities to conduct a thorough, impartial investigation into this incident — to determine who is responsible and what they intended to achieve. The perpetrators must be identified and held accountable under the law.”
“We appeal to the public to remain calm and vigilant, and to report any suspicious activity to the proper authorities,” ayon sa lider ng Senado. Ernie Reyes
