
CALOOCAN Mayor Along Malapitan has declared one month-long festivities as well as free services for residents as the city launched the celebrations for its historic 63rd anniversary.
The festivities officially started with the free concert which was followed by a variety of social development programs for the specific needs of the residents, including community-based medical missions and free health services from both Caloocan City Medical Center and Caloocan City North Medical Center, a Kasalang Bayan, and even a ballroom-dancing event dedicated for senior citizens.
Economic, livelihood, and tourism-boosting programs were also organized, including the month-long Grand Bazaar for local businesses, two Mega Job Fairs, and the much-anticipated Miss Caloocan 2025.
Likewise included in the line-up of activities is the annual Outstanding Citizens Awards Night to commend residents, personalities, and employees who have contributed much to the development of different aspects of the city.
Malapitan said the cityhood celebration shall give priority to top-notch and efficient services as he expressed his administration’s commitment in ensuring that residents will enjoy the full benefits of the said services and activities.
He then expressed his gratitude to all ’Batang Kankaloos’ for their unwavering support to the city government and his administration.
New government center
The Caloocan chief executive has announced the start of the construction of a new center that would accommodate local and national government offices including the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Commission on Elections.
Malapitan led other key city officials including erstwhile mayor and now District 1 Rep. Oscar Malapitan, the former’s father, during a groundbreaking ceremony in Barangay 101, District 2, where the eight-storey building would be built.
“This has been one of my administration’s planned projects which has the primary goal of making government processes even more efficient and accessible for the city residents.”
Once built and operational, the younger Malapitan said this would largely benefit his constituents who would no longer need to go elsewhere to transact with various national government offices.
He likewise highlighted the on-going construction of his administration’s other mega infrastructure projects including the Legislative and Hall of Justice buildings.
