Caloocan launches its ‘Kadiwa Bagsakan Center’

CALOOCAN City Mayor Along Malapitan led the inauguration of the first local government-initiated ‘Kadiwa Bagsakan Center’  in the country’s biggest barangay, Bagong Silang.

“The KBC in Bagong Silang is the first local government-initiated center to be established in Metro Manila,” Malapitan said.

He also said he pushed for its creation in order to alleviate nutrition problems in low-income areas by providing residents with a permanent local market with cheap and locally-sourced goods.

It also features a spacious area with more than 200 stalls for dry goods, wet market, and general merchandise, according to the city government.

The Caloocan chief executive pleased both vendors and customers as he promised free lease for six months and guaranteed the cleanliness, quality, and safety of the goods being sold at KBC.

“For our vendors, you can have all the time to sell your goods without thinking of stall rental for at least six months then after that we will talk again but I’ll make sure you can all afford the payment,” he said.

The son of former mayor-turned-congressman, Oca Malapitan, who is equally-dedicated and well-loved by their constituents, said KBC is in line with one of his main objectives to improve the economy of the city as called on his constituents to support and patronize projects like the KBC to make Caloocan more competitive and productive.

Last year, the city government also distributed 169 smart TVs on top of the 225 and 320 50-inch smart TVs given to public schools in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
