IN the Philippines, as in many other countries – having a political slogan has become a tradition and a strategy for those aspiring to serve the public.
Political hopefuls meticulously craft their slogans because these play a significant role in their campaigns.
Like a weapon in battle, a slogan is a tool to win elections.
These slogans, which usually surface during election season, are a strategic element for politicians to attract, persuade, and win the trust and votes of the people.
Similar to commercial products, slogans serve as advertisements—promotional tools for candidates vying for public office.
However, it’s disheartening to note that in the current political landscape, many politicians use slogans merely as stepping stones to fulfill their ambitions.
After securing their positions, these promises often become forgotten relics of their campaigns.
But not in Caloocan. Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan is one of the rare public servants who have truly embodied and upheld their campaign promises.
His slogan, “Aksyon at Malasakit” is not just a catchphrase; it is a commitment he has consistently delivered on.
Since assuming office as mayor in May 2022, Malapitan’s daily actions have shown Caloocan residents his dedication to his mantra of action and compassion.
This January 2025, the mayor once again demonstrated his “Aksyon at Malasakit” philosophy by ordering the provision of a PHP 2,000 monthly augmentation pay for Caloocan teachers, starting this month.
Public service reaches its peak when leaders like Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan take action and show genuine compassion for their constituents.
