THE Caloocan City government has launched a facility called Hope and Play: A Pod for Every Ability that would offer services exclusive for children with special needs, Mayor Along Malapitan said.
The center would strengthen the benefits received by children with special needs along with their parents, said the mayor who lauded the concerned city departments for setting up the center.
It would offer services such as psychoeducational screening, language programs, behavior management, learning support, and even trainings for the parents and guardians of children with special needs.
The youthful mayor acknowledged the challenges the parents are facing in raising their children with special needs.
“That’s why, I’ve promised to do the best for them and now we’re making it a reality and my administration will always protect the interest of children and vulnerable members of the community,” said the son of ex-mayor and now District 1 Rep. Oca Malapitan.
Navotas gives aid to Cebu quake survivors
Navotas Mayor John Rey Tiangco told Good Riddance that P1-million has been allocated from its 2025 Quick Response Fund as financial aid to the province of Cebu following the Sept. 30 magnitude 6.9 earthquake that hit and devastated several of its towns.
He said the city’s budget and resources may not be that much, however, it’s still fortunate that it has the capacity to help fellow Filipinos in dire need of support and assistance.
“Pinagdaanan na rin natin ito. Noong nakaraang Hulyo, itinaas din ang state of calamity sa ating lungsod at alam natin kung gaano kahirap ang ganitong sitwasyon. Kaya hanggang may maitutulong tayo sa mga kababayan nating nangangailangan, gagawin natin,” Tiangco said.
‘Bring home Zaldy Co ASAP
Veteran Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco has again urged the Department of Foreign Affairs to immediately cancel the passport of resigned Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co to ensure his return to the country and face charges over the misuse of public funds related to the anomalous flood control projects.
He warned that the DFA must act swiftly and prevent Co from using the time to apply for citizenship in another country that has no extradition treaty with the Philippines.
Tiangco also noted that even former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales supports the move to cancel Co’s passport.
