Isa na namang panggigipit ng China sa barko ng PIlipinas sa teritoryong hindi naman sa kanila.
MANILA, Philippines – Sinita ng Group of Seven (G7) ang China sa militarisasyon at “intimidation activities” sa South China Sea (SCS), kasabay ng pagbanggit sa “dangerous manueuvers” at paggamit nito ng water cannon laban sa mga barko ng Pilipinas na patungo sa resupply mission sa Ayungin Shoal.
Ang communiqué ay inisyu nitong Biyernes, Abril 19, kung saan tinutulan ng mga foreign minister ng G7 ang mapanganib na paggamit ng China sa coast guard at maritime militia nito sa paggiit ng soberanya sa naturang karagatan.
“We are seriously concerned about the situation in the East and South China Seas and reiterate our strong opposition to any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force or coercion,” saad dito.
“We continue to oppose China’s dangerous use of coast guard and maritime militia in the South China Sea and its repeated obstruction of countries’ high seas freedom of navigation and we express serious concern about the increasing use of dangerous maneuvers and water cannons against Philippines vessels in this regard.”
Iginiit din ng grupo na walang legal na basehan ang expansive maritime claims ng China sa South China Sea at nagpahayag ng suporta sa 2016 Arbitral Award.
“We reiterate that the award rendered by the Arbitral Tribunal on July 12, 2016, is a significant milestone, which is legally binding upon the parties to those proceedings and a useful basis for peacefully resolving disputes between the parties,” sinabi pa.
Ang G7 ay nagrerepsenta sa mga nangungunang bansa sa mundo. Kabilang dito ang Canada, France, United States, Germany, Italy, Japan at United Kingdom. RNT/JGC
