MANILA, Philippines – Magsasagawa ng demonstrasyon ng automated counting machine (ACM) sa bawat lokal na pamahalaan sa Negros Island Region ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) bilang bahagi ng voters’ education campaign nito para sa May 2025 national at local elections.
Ayon kay NIR Election Director Lionel Marco Castillano, layon nilang ipakita ang ACMs sa iba’t ibang sektor at hikayatin ang pagtanggap sa counting system.
“There will be one machine for each city and municipality. Before, there were only two counting machines that made the rounds in each region. This time, we will show the ACMs to each and every one,” sinabi ni Castillano sa isang press conference nitong Sabado, Setyembre 14.
Aniya, ang demo ng ACM ay isasagawa mula unang linggo ng Disyembre hanggang sa katapusan ng Enero.
“In those two months, you will see the Comelec going even to the barangays to hold a demo for various sectors. We can hold a demo for senior citizens, students and even political parties,” dagdag pa niya.
Sa ilalim ng NIR, ang Negros Occidental ay binubuo ng isang highly-urbanized city, 12 component cities at 19 municipalities; Negros Oriental, na mayroong anim na component cities at 19 municipalities; at Siquijor, na anim na munisipalidad. RNT/JGC
