MANILA, Philippines – Mariing kinondena ng Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFOMS) ang pagpaslang kay veteranong mamamahayag Juan “Johnny” Dayang, 89, na binaril sa loob ng kanyang bahay sa Kalibo, Aklan noong gabi ng Abril 29.
Dinala siya sa ospital ngunit idineklarang dead on arrival.
Ayon kay Usec. Jose Torres Jr., Executive Director ng PTFOMS, nakikiramay sila sa media community at tinawag si Dayang na haligi ng pamamahayag sa Pilipinas.
Tiniyak ni Torres na nakikipag-ugnayan ang PTFOMS sa mga awtoridad upang malutas ang kaso at nanawagan sa publiko na suportahan ang proteksyon sa mga mamamahayag at ang kalayaan sa pamamahayag.
“We are closely coordinating with all concerned agencies to ensure the immediate resolution of this case,” ani Torres.
“We stand in solidarity with the media community as we mourn the passing of Mr. Dayang, a figure regarded as a pillar of Philippine journalism whose contributions greatly enriched our democratic discourse,” dagdag pa ng opisyal.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Dayang during this difficult time,” Torres added. “His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of journalists in their pursuit of truth and justice.” RNT
