MANILA, Philippines- Nanumpa na si dating senador Sonny Angara sa harap ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. bilang bagong kalihim ng Department of Education (DepEd) sa isang seremonya sa Palasyo ng Malakanyang, araw ng Biyernes, Hulyo 19, 2024.
“I have just administered the oath to our good friend here, Secretary Sonny Angara, for his new position in the Department of Education. That formalizes his taking on of the position of Secretary for DepEd,” ayon kay Pangulong Marcos.
Matatandaang hinirang ni Pangulong Marcos si Angara bilang bagong DepEd Secretary noong Hulyo 2 sabay sabing kumpiyansa siya sa kung ano ang magagawa ng huli sa nasabing departamento.
“We are looking forward to many good things to come from this appointment. We have had some discussions before he took his oath to give ourselves a good idea of what we think that needs to be done,” ang sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos.
“I know Sonny knows what is important and I know how that he knows how to get these things done, and so I’m very very optimistic for DepEd,” dagdag na wika nito.
Nagpahayag naman ng kanyang pasasalamat si Angara sa pagkakatalaga sa kanya ni Pangulong Marcos bilang DepEd Secretary.
“I’m extremely grateful to our President for entrusting me with this important task to lead a very important department, to use the President’s words,” pahayag ni Angara.
Looking forward naman si Angara na makatrabaho si Pangulong Marcos.
“Mr. President, I know how much you value education, much as every Filipino family does. I look forward to working very closely with you in the coming days and months for the needed reforms in our educational system, for the benefit of our young learners, for the benefit of future generations,” tinuran pa ni Angara.
Nauna rito, ipinasa na ni outgoing Department of Education (DepEd) chief at Vice President Sara Duterte ang kanyang cabinet post kay Angara.
Sa turnover ceremony sa main office ng DepEd sa Pasay City, ipinasa ni Duterte ang seal at watawat ng ahensya kay Angara.
Sa kanyang talumpati, sinabi ni Angara na itutuloy niya ang mga programa na nasimulan ni Duterte sa ahensya.
