MANILA, Philippines – Respetado ng Malaking Kapulungan ng Kongreso ang Korte Suprema anuman ang desisyon nito lalo pa at hindi ito naglabas ng kautusan upang ipahinto ang isinasagawang pagdinig sa impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Binigyang diin ni House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III na habang walang desisyon ang Supreme Court sa inihaing petisyon ng kampo ni VP Sara na nagpapahinto sa impeachment ay tuloy ang pagdinig ng HOuse Committee on Justice ukol dito.
“The House of Representatives welcomes the Supreme Court’s non-issuance of a temporary restraining order. We have the highest respect for the Court and its processes, and we defer to its authority on matters properly brought before it. In the absence of any legal restraint, the House of Representatives will continue to discharge its constitutional mandate.”
Naunang naghain ng petisyon sa SC si VP Sara na humihiling na ipahinto ng Kataastaasang Hukuman ang impeachment proceedings sa Kamara at bilang tugon ay binigyan ng SC ng 10 araw ang House Committee on Justice na sagutin at ipaliwanag ang isinasagawang impeachment proceedings.
Dahil dito, sinabi ni Speaker Dy na dahil walang inilabas na pagpapahinto ang SC ay tuloy pa rin ang pagdinig ng komite.
“The House Committee on Justice will proceed in accordance with the Constitution and the rules, through a fair, orderly, and evidence-based process where all parties are given the opportunity to be heard. This reflects the proper balance among institutions, with each branch performing its role within the bounds of the Constitution,” ani Dy.
Naunang kinumpirma ni Bicol Saro Rep. Terry Ridon na pinayagan na ng korte ang testigo sa impeachment case na si Rommel Madriaga na humarap sa pagdinig ng Justice committee matapos na hilingin ng Kamara.
Dahil dito, sinabi rin ni Speaker Dy na, “ the proceedings are part of the constitutional process of accountability, guided by facts, evidence, and the rule of law.” (Meliza Maluntag)
