MANILA, Philippines- Iminungkahi ni Presidential Communications Office chief Jay Ruiz sa House TriCommittee na ipatupad din sa Pilipinas ang Digital Services Act na una nang pinairal sa European Union upang magkaroon ng ban sa mga maling impormasyon online.
Ayon kay Ruiz, isa sa mga resource person sa TriComm hearing, kung mayroong Digital Servcies Act ay magkakaroon na ng regulasyon sa mga illegal content.
“We urge Congress to join our digital crusade against combating fake news by strengthening our laws by introducing internationally accepted policies and standards for content moderation on social media. I respectfully encourage our lawmakers to consider the framework of the Digital Services Act, a recently adopted EU regulation which prevents illegal and harmful activities, disinformation online while still ensuring that the freedom of expression is upheld,” paliwanag ni Ruiz.
Sinabi ni Ruiz na maliban sa fake new, ang isa pa sa nakaaalarma ay ang pagdami ng deep fake content kung saan nagagaya ang mukha at boses ng isang tao kaya mas nahihirapang matukoy kung ito ay fake content.
Aniya, sa henerasyon ngayon ay mayroon nang dalawang mundo, ang cyber world at ang real world kaya naman kailangan ang agarang aksyon para labanan ito.
“We have to make make sure that online, the voice of truth should be louder than lies. It should always be louder than lies. They should always be louder than lies. Because now, a lie told a thousand times drowns out the truth,” pahayag ni Ruiz.
Iginiit pa nito na hindi lamang pag-regulate sa online media practitioners ang dapat na gawin kundi maging sa social media platforms gaya ng TikTok, Facebook at Youtube.
Gayunman, ang malaking problema ay ang mga platform na ito ay hindi nakabase sa Pilipinas kaya matagal din ang kanilang pag-akto sa mga reklamo sa mga maling posts. Gail Mendoza
