MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) na nagkaroon ng positibong resulta ang mga repormang kontra-korapsyon na ipinatupad nito sa Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Ayon sa DILG, ang mga bagong hakbang ay “[eliminated] anomalous budget insertions, [curbed] procurement irregularities and [intensified] anti-corruption efforts.”
Isa sa mga hakbang ay ang livestreaming ng public bidding, na nagresulta sa pagbili ng 224 sasakyan na mas mababa ng humigit-kumulang ₱100 milyon kaysa sa inaasahang gastos.
“Among the department’s transparency initiatives is the livestreaming of public bidding, which enabled the DILG to procure 224 vehicles at approximately ₱100 million below the projected cost, demonstrating how open and accountable processes can deliver greater value for public funds,” paliwanag ng DILG.
Ang pahayag ay kasunod ng pagdalo ni DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla sa isang forum ng La Salle Institute of Governance.
“Open Government can be achieved if the youth exercises their right to demand accountability,”ani Remulla.
“You must make us hear your voice. You must make us feel that, or nothing will change,” dagdag pa niya.
Nagsimula ang anti-corruption drive ng DILG sa BFP ngayong taon, at nagresulta ito sa pagsasampa ng kaso laban sa ilang opisyal ng BFP dahil sa umano’y mga anomalya sa procurement at recruitment. RNT/MDS
