MANILA, Philippines- Magkakaroon ng failure of elections sa susunod na taon kung hindi reresolbahin ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang mga isyu kaugnay sa poll contractor Miru, ayon kay Cagayan de Oro Rep Rufus Rodriguez,
“The 2025 election should be assured by the Comelec and the contractor [Miru] to be flawless and bring about the results of the people’s will. But we’re reading in accounts and papers the problems of Miru. The bedrock of our democracy is periodic elections; I’m concerned there may be a possibility of failure of election next year. We should ask from Miru an assurance that what happened in the DRC and Iraq are not true,” pahayag ni Rodriguez.
Una nang nagkaroon ng problema sa eleksyon sa Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) maging sa Iraq gamit ang automated system ng Miru.
“Those polls was hounded by many issues,we don’t want that to happen to our country,” ani Rodriguez.
Nabatid na 45 porsyento ng polling stations sa DRC ang nakaranas ng problema sa electronic voting machines habang 70 porsyento ng voting stations sa Iraq ang hindi gumana kaya sa huli ay bumalik din sa manual elections.
Ang Miru na isang South Korean firm ang nakakuha ng P17.9-billion contract para sa bilangan ng boto sa susunod na taon.
Sa naging demonstrasyon ng counting system ng Miru kamakailan ay muli itong nagkaroon ng aberya kaya naman nangangamba si Rodriguez na ganito ang mangyari sa araw ng eleksyon. Gail Mendoza
