Tiniyak ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 2-Cagayan Valley na naka handa na sa posibleng epekto ng bagyong Gener ang ahensya dahil nai-preposition na ng mga ito ang mahigit sa anim na libong kahon ng Family Food Packs (FFPs).
“Based on the directive of Secretary Rex Gatchalian, the DSWD Field Office 2- Cagayan Valley has prepositioned 6,198 boxes of FFPs in the province of Batanes to prepare for the possible impacts of TD Gener,”sabi ni DSWD Asst. Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group (DMRG) at Spokesperson Irene Dumlao.
Sa pamamagitan ng logistical support na ibinigay ng Philippine Navy BRP Waray (LC-288), ang mga nasabing relief goods ay dumating na sa port ng Basco Batanes nitong Linggo (September 15).
Kaugnay nito tiniyak na rin ng DSWD spokesperson na patuloy na nakaantabay ang ahensya para asistehan ang local government units (LGUs) na posibleng tamaan ng masamang panahon.
“The Department maintains over Php213 million standby funds ready for any disaster response operation. We also have more than 1.7 million FFPs prepositioned in strategic warehouses and locations around the country. The DSWD is ready to provide augmentation support to localities that will be affected by the impacts of Gener,” dagdag pa ni Asst. Secretary Dumlao.
Samantala pinaalalahanan naman ng DSWD spokesperson na maging mapagmasid, mag-ingat at sundin ang utos ng kanilang lokal na pamahalaan upang masiguro ang kaligtasan. (Santi Celario)
