MANILA, Philippines- Pinatawan ng anim na buwang preventive suspension ng Office of the Ombudsman si Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia dahil sa umano’y grave abuse of authority bunsod ng inilabas na special permit sa isang construction company nang walang legal na basehan.
Ayon sa tanggapan ng Ombudsman, inihain na kay Garcia ang limang pahinang suspension order kahapon, April 28, o 14 araw bago ang May 12 midterm polls.
Si Garcia ay tumatakbo para sa ikatlong termino bilang Cebu governor.
Si Garcia ay inakusahan ng isang Moises Deiparine na nag-isyu ng special permit sa Shalom Construction, Inc. noong May 14, 2024 nang walang Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) o Certificate of Non-Coverage (CNC) na inilabas ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Sinabi naman ni Garcia na iaapela niya ang suspension order.
“My legal team is already taking the necessary steps to challenge this preventive suspension through the proper legal channels. I have full faith that truth and justice will prevail,” ani Garcia. Teresa Tavares
