MANILA, Philippines – Naglaan ang Iloilo City ng P25 milyong pondo mula sa local disaster risk reduction and management fund para sa paglalagay ng solar energy systems sa mga piling lugar.
Ayon kay Mayor Raisa Treñas, tinitingnan ng pamahalaan ang ilang specific na proyekto sa paglalagay ng solar panels.
“The PHP25 million is already the budget allotted for our solar systems installation in the evacuation center, emergency operations center and government offices. That is our initiative for upgrading, for renewable, also we are looking into one of the initiatives for this (energy) crisis,” ani Trenas.
Sinabi pa nito na ilang opisina ang makapagtitipid ng 30% hanggang 40% ng electricity charges mula sa paglalagay ng solar panels.
Si Treñas ang isa sa mga opisyal ng lokal na pamahalaan na pumirma ng kasunduan sa Department of Energy, at nagpahayag ng suporta para sa Solar Solutions for Government: Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Public Buildings Program.
Kasabay ng pagpirma, sinabi pa ni Treñas na palalawakin ng lokal na pamahalaan ang paggamit ng solar sa mga poste ng ilaw sa lungsod, pagbawas ng konsumo sa kuryente at carbon emissions.
“By investing in renewable energy today, we are creating long-term savings, strengthening energy security, and building a city that is more resilient to the challenges of tomorrow,” aniya.
Samantala, umaasa ang alkalde na marinig ang plano ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa pagtugon sa energy crisis at flood control sa ikalimang State of the Nation Address nito ngayong Lunes, Hulyo 27.
“One of four expectations if he can give an input on how we can help solve the current global crisis that we are facing. Here in Iloilo, we are experiencing high prices of crude oil and diesel affecting our commuters and drivers.” RNT/JGC
