MANILA, Philippines – Naitala ang kauna-unahang kaso ng H5N2, isang bird flu subtype na naipapasa sa tao, sa Talisay, Camarines Norte, ayon sa Department of Agriculture (DA) nitong Miyerkules, Disyembre 11.
Iniulat ng Bureau of Animal Industry na ang virus ay naitala mula sa isang duck farm noong Disyembre 6.
“This is the first detection of HPAI (highly pathogenic avian influenza) H5N2 in the country and the first recorded avian influenza case in the province,” ayon sa DA.
Sinabi pa na isinasagawa rin ang quarantine procedures sa loob ng one-kilometer surveillance zone.
Nakumpleto na ang culling process sa mga ibon sa lugar kung saan naitala ang virus.
Noong Hunyo, sinabi ng World Health Organization (WHO) na isang indibidwal sa Mexico ang nasawi dahil sa unang kumpirmadong kaso ng virus sa tao.
Anang WHO, ang pasyente ay “no history of exposure to poultry or other animals.” RNT/JGC
