MANILA, Philippines – Arestado ang isang Koreano sa Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu nitong Martes ng hapon, Disyembre 9 dahil sa illegal recruitment.
Kinilala ang lalaki na si “Jung Kwan,” 53 na may arrest warrant sa paglabag sa Section 6 sa ilalim ng Section 7 ng Republic Act No. 8042, o Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act, maging ang estafa.
Ang warrant ay inisyu ng Las Piñas Regional Trial Court noong Nobyembre, ayon sa CIDG.
Si Jung Kwan ay naaresto Martes ng hapon sa Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, kung saan siya naninirahan.
Ayon sa CIDG, nagsabwatan sina Jung Kwan at tatlong Filipino para lokohin ang mga biktima. Ang tatlong kasabwat nito ay kinilalang sina “Mary,” “Joyce,” at “Mark” sa pagpapatanggap ng job offers bilang housekeeping staff sa South Korea noong Disyembre 2024 hanggang Enero 2025.
“Through false manifestations and fraudulent representations, the suspects convinced the victims to pay P120,000 each for processing and placement fees,” paliwanag ng CIDG.
“However, the suspects allegedly misappropriated and converted the money collected from the victims for their personal use. It was subsequently discovered that the suspects had no authority to recruit,” dagdag pa.
Hindi na sinabi ng CIDG ang kinaroroonan ng tatlong kasabwat na Filipino. RNT/JGC
