MALAPITAN STILL PREFERRED MAYOR IN SWS SURVEY

CALOOCAN Mayor Along Malapitan is still preferred by a majority of the city residents as local chief executive in connection with the upcoming May 2025 midterm elections based on a latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

Conducted last month or after the filing period of the certificates of candidacy, it showed that an overwhelming 81 percent of Caloocan citizens preferred to re-elect Malapitan for the city’s top post while his contender, ex-senator Antonio Trillanes IV garnered only 15%.

Earlier, the city government was recognized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry for its business-friendly initiatives and the Department of Finance for its outstanding growth of local source revenues as the 8th Highly-Urbanized City in the country.

Also, the Anti-Red Tape Authority conferred the Seal of eBoss Compliance for the implementation of the city’s fully-automated Business One Stop Shop.

“We recognize the commendable efforts of Mayor Malapitan to support the business community in the city, driven by his exemplary leadership and valuism,” said Oliver Uy, PCCI-Caloocan president.

The local residents have cited the Malapitan administration’s people-oriented projects such as the street-lighting, infrastructure projects, free health services, free education, and efficient disaster response during Typhoons Carina, Enteng, and Kristine as the reason for their support to the mayor.

Based on the same SWS survey, Malapitan’s running mate, incumbent Vice Mayor Karina Teh-Limsico obtained 70 percent while her rival, ex-councilor PJ Malonzo, got only 20 percent.

”Due to the exemplary leadership and example laid down by Mayor Malapitan, all other incumbent city officials who are part of ’Team Aksyon at Malasakit’ maintained their lead over other candidates in their respective positions,” the long-time residents said.

The city’s current legislative representatives likewise garnered significant leads: incumbent District 1 Rep. Oscar ‘Oca’ Malapitan got 83 percent compared to ex-mayor Rey Malonzo‘s  11 percent.

Incumbent District 2 Rep. Mitch Cajayon-Uy got 64 percent while returning candidate Egay Erice obtained 33 percent and incumbent District 3 Rep. Dean Asistio had 94 percent compared to Edwin Feliciano‘s two percent.

The city chief executive, who’s seeking a second term, expressed gratitude to his constituents for the continued trust they bestowed upon his administration as he cited his impactful programs as the main reason for this strengthened public support.
