MALAPITANS: BUILDING CALOOCAN NEW ‘LEGAL’ LEGACY

HISTORY is not only written in grand halls or centuries-old universities. Sometimes, it begins in a city once underestimated — where ambition quietly burns and leaders dare to believe that greatness can rise from ordinary streets.

The recent success of the newest Bar passers from the University of Caloocan City is not merely an academic milestone; it is a declaration that Caloocan City has come of age.

Behind this defining moment stands the vision of Congressman Oscar “Oca” Malapitan, whose leadership laid the institutional foundation for expanding and strengthening UCC, including the bold creation of its School of Law.

What some once viewed with doubt, he saw as destiny — an opportunity to bring quality legal education within reach of families who never imagined they could send a child to law school.

That vision did not stop there. Under Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan, the commitment to elevate local education only intensified.

Support systems were reinforced, academic standards upheld, and the belief in homegrown excellence sustained.

The result is now clear: UCC has produced lawyers who successfully hurdled one of the toughest professional examinations in the country.

These new lawyers represent more than personal triumph. They embody the faith of leaders who invested in potential, the resilience of students who studied against the odds, and the pride of a city redefining itself.

In celebrating them, we also recognize the leadership that made their success possible. Oca and Along Malapitan did more than build programs — they built pathways.

And through those pathways now walk Caloocan’s newest defenders of justice, carrying with them a legacy that will echo for generations.
