MANILA, Philippines- Pumwesto ang Manila, Philippines bilang ika-206 lungsod na pinakamainam na tirahan mula sa 1,000 pinakamalalaking lungsod sa mundo, base sa ilang pamantayan kabilang ang kalidad ng buhay at kapaligiran, ayon sa 2025 Global Cities Index na ipinalabas ng independent economic advisory firm Oxford Economics.
Sa pangkalahatan, pumwesto ang Manila sa ika-206 matapos matukoy na ika-158 sa ekonomiya, ika-93 sa human capital, ika-373 sa kalidad ng buhay, ika-30 sa kapaligiran, at ika-604 sa governance.
Posibleng tinutukoy sa pag-aaral ang Metro Manila o ang National Capital Region bilang kabuuan, subalit, kasama rin ang “Manila” sa 25 “Developing Megacities,” o large urban areas na may mahigit 10 milyong residente na may infrastructure investments na “often struggled to keep up with increasing population,” at “have low levels of income per person.”
Tinukoy ang rankings batay sa total scores para sa kada kategorya, na may overall score na kinalkula sa pagkuha ng weighted average—economics sa 30%, human capital sa 25%, quality of life sa 25%, environment sa 10%, at governance sa 10%.
“The indicators included in the Global Cities Index are not an exhaustive list of the characteristics to consider when comparing cities. Rather, they are among what we believe to be the most relevant traits, as well as a reflection of the harmonized data available at the city level across 163 countries,” saad sa ulat.
“The result is an overall score for each of the 1,000 Global Cities that considers not only the city’s economic performance, but also how well educated it is, the wellbeing of its residents, the volatility of its climate, any political risks facing the city, and much more,” dagdag pa.
Kabilang din sa nasabing listahan ang Cebu City sa ika-470, swak sa “Emerging Standouts” o mga siyudad na na-“outperform” ang kani-kanilang bansa, at nakaengganyo ng mga residente dahil sa “fast productivity growth,” at mas mataas na levels of income kada tao kumpara sa national average.
Gayundin, pasok sa listahan ang Angeles City sa ika-488, Bacolod City sa ika-518, Davao City sa ika-519, Cagayan de Oro City sa ika-577, Dagupan City sa ika-581, General Santos City sa ika-835, at Zamboanga City sa ika-861.
Nanguna naman ang New York sa United States, sinundan ng London, United Kingdom; Paris, France; San Jose, US; Seattle, US; Melbourne, Australia; Sydney, Australia; Boston, US; at Tokyo, Japan sa listahan. RNT/SA
