MANILA, Philippines- Umapela si House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez sa mga lider ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at South Korea na magtulungan para matiyak ang kapayapaan at kaunlaran sa rehiyon.
Sa kanyang mensahe sa opening ceremony ng ASEAN-Korea Leaders’ Forum na ginaganap sa Jeju International Convention Center (ICC) sa Jeju Island, Korea, sinabi ni Romualdez na umaasa sya na ang forum ay magsisilbing tulay para sa Pilipinas at sa iba pang Southeast Asian region na mas maging malapit sa isa’t isa.
“I look forward to substantive discussions on how we as a collective global community can ensure peace, stability, and prosperity in the region; as well as promote sustainable economic growth and enhance regional resilience, with a focus on energy and food security, among others,” pahayag ni Romualdez na siyang nanguna sa delegasyon para sa House of Representatives.
“We still have ways to go and we will look to partners like the Republic of Korea and those present today in improving these initiatives, and in working together to make sure that the geopolitical challenges of today do not undermine the possible gains of our future,” dagdag pa niya.
Aniya, ang Pilipinas ay bukas sa pakikipag-usap sa ibang nasyon para matugunan ang mga mahahalagang isyu at problema kabilang na ang transnational at global threats.
Nagpaabot din ng pasasalamat si Romualdez kay Kim Jin-pyo, Speaker ng National Assembly of the Republic of Korea na syang nangasiwa sa forum.
“On behalf of the Philippine government and people, it is a great honor for me to lead the Philippine delegation to the 18th Jeju Forum. I would like to thank the Republic of Korea for hosting this forum in Jeju Island, home to world heritage sites and a model for green transition. I extend my nation’s warmest congratulations to our host,” pahayag nito.
Ang ASEAN-Korea Leaders Forum ay isang special program ng Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity na ang layunin ay pagsama samahin ang mga business at parliamentary leaders upang bumuo ng ng kooperasyon na makatutulong sa mga member-countries.
Sa panig ni Romualdez ay hinihimok nito ang investors na mamuhunan sa Pilipinas na magbubukas trabaho para sa mga Filipino. Gail Mendoza
